Divák tu vstupuje do priameho konfrontačného vzťahu s procesmi materiálno-chemickej remediácie a fotografickými experimentmi.
ENVELOPPE je výzvou k zastaveniu sa. Je to rituálne gesto venované pôde, krajine a spomienkam ľudí, no najmä pokus pretaviť kolektívnu úzkosť z dnešných konfliktov do tvorivej sily očisty a hojenia.

EN:

The exhibition project ENVELOPPE is the result of artistic field research conducted by Erika Szőke in collaboration with guest artist, architect, and educator Andrea Pézman. Its starting point is the memory of the Enveloppe site in Komárno – a location where historical layers intersect, ranging from anti-Ottoman fortification ramparts and an Imperial and Royal Artillery Institute to wartime munitions manufacturing, a tobacco factory, and a coal power plant.
Rather than merely reconstructing the past, the artists transform the space of the Šamorín Synagogue into a sacred alchemical and ecological laboratory. Here, the heavy layers of military and industrial history are converted into a silent ritual of purification.
Chemical elements and minerals once used for destruction enter into unexpected reactions. Owing to their inherent properties, these destructive components are repurposed as absorbents and purifying filters. Activated charcoal neutralizes the toxic traces of the past, and since sulfur is absent from the reaction, the expected explosion does not occur – instead, the space is filled with a profound silence.
Complementing the monumental installation in the main nave, an elevated laboratory on the gallery level allows the artists to examine the anthropogenic impact on the land and soil. Here, viewers enter into a direct encounter with processes of material-chemical remediation and photographic experimentation.
ENVELOPPE is an invitation to pause. It is a ritual gesture dedicated to the soil, the landscape, and the memories of the people who left their mark upon it, as well as an attempt to channel collective anxiety stemming from contemporary conflicts into a creative force of cleansing and healing.
We look forward to your visit!
